Second Act is Chicago’s only cancer recovery boutique accredited by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics. Carrying bras, prosthetic breast forms, compression garments, wigs and accessories, most products are in stock and ready for clients to take home. These pocketed bras hold the prosthetic breast form securely in place. Our camisoles, tank tops, t-shirts and swim suits all have pockets as well. We carry a range of compression sleeves and gauntlets in fashion colors and designs for the treatment of lymphedema, We also have a wide selection of wigs, hats and scarves.

Most post surgery items are covered by Medicare and/or private insurance for women diagnosed with cancer recently as well as long-term survivors. Second Act is recognized by Medicare as an approved, DME provider and is also under contract as an in-network provider with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna and Medicaid. A physician’s prescription is required.

The owner, Pattie Cagney Sheehan, opened Second Act in 2008. She is a BOC Certified Mastectomy Fitter and a member of the American Association of Breast Care Professionals. She is also one of only a few fitters in the Midwest trained to fit custom breast prosthetics.

Second Act welcomes all individuals who desire the products we offer, for any reason. However, insurance only covers these items when there is a related cancer diagnosis.

We are open Monday - Friday and appointments are required for all fitting services. We offer a limited number of appointments on some Saturday's as well.
